Cell Explorer as a museum kiosk
Cell Explorer is an exhibit about cell functions and cell parts. It was developed as part of the Exploratorium's Traits of Life exhibition, and is presented in the museum on a touchscreen kiosk, and on the Traits of Life website.
design: The use of semi-transparent pop-up content boxes is meant to suggest cells multiplying. The choice of a skin cell is meant to make the content more personal, as, in the museum, a user touches the screen with her finger.
technical: Cell Explorer was developed in Flash MX, using object-oriented techniques in Actionscript 1.0.
